Disabled Golf

The key objectives of the SA Disabled Golf Open are to encourage and promote every South African with a permanent disability to play and enjoy golf.

Playing golf is a viable form of rehabilitation and recreation for the disabled. It also brings together able and disabled golfers to share their love of the game. Our sponsorship demonstrates our commitment to disabled sportsmen.

RAM has, for some time, recruited disabled individuals who perform administration, customer service and call centre functions. Achilles International is a non-profit organisation with chapters in over 65 locations within the United States and abroad that provide athletes with disabilities with a community of support. In addition to sponsoring certain Achilles members to participate in the New York Marathon, RAM has entered into discussions with the South African Chapter of Achilles and is seeking to recruit personnel who have disabilities.

RAM Rocky Road Runners (“RAM Rockies”)

RAM Rockies offers support and a forum for its members to train and compete in road races throughout South Africa.

RAM entered into an agreement to support RAM Rockies and its members in terms of a SED contribution that supports previously disadvantaged runners; disabled previously disadvantaged runners and the ‘Enthembeni School for the Disabled’, a black disabled school, which is located on the Comrades Marathon route.

First Things First

First Things First is a campus-based HIV testing, counselling and education campaign aimed at encouraging first year students to know their status. The campaign was originated by Innovative Medicines SA (IMSA) as a partnership with the Foundation for Professional Development (FPD), in collaboration with the Department of Health/SANAC and the Higher Education SA / HEAids programme (HEAIDS) in 2011.

In 2013, IMSA requested RAM’s assistance in the logistics portion of the campaign. This is comprised of warehousing of all collateral until despatch and courier of allotted items to 23 campuses.

This program and our partnership with First thing First is making a meaningful contribution to the fight against AIDS.

RAM undertook to distribute books, free of charge, on behalf of Minki van der Westhuizen in collaboration with You / Huisgenoot and the online retailer, Kalahari.net. This campaign provided much needed books to schools, institutions and libraries that cannot afford to purchase their own books.
