RAM’s certificate indicates that RAM is a 51% Black Owned, Level One Contributor, Value-Adding Supplier.

In terms of the Codes of Good Practice on Black-Economic Empowerment signed by the Minister of Trade and Industry on 09 February 2007:

  • a Level 1 Status Level entitles purchasers to recognise 135% of their procurement from the measured entity when preparing their B-BBEE certificate;
  • a Value-Adding Supplier is defined as "an Entity registered as a vendor under the Value-Added Tax of 1991, whose Net Profit before Tax summed with its Total Labour Cost exceeds 25% of the value of its Total Revenue." Purchases from Value-Adding Suppliers are multiplied by 125% when preparing the purchaser's B-BBEE certificate.
When taking RAM’s Level 1, Value-Adding Supplier status into account, RAM Logistics' effective procurement spend recognition is 168.75% (135% x 125%), which exceeds the equivalent Level 1 recognition level, for a non-value adding supplier of 135%.

In essence, and in terms of the current Transport Sector Code, RAM Logistics is -

  • 51.08% Black Owned; plus
  • a Level One Contributor providing 135% procurement spend recognition, plus
  • has a Value-Adding Supplier Status.
Accordingly, from RAM Logistics’ client’s perspective (Measured Entity) this would entitle RAM Logistics’ Client to recognise spend with RAM Logistics of 168.75% (135% x 125%) which can be recognised, under the following Preferential Procurement Indicators -

  • B-BBEE Procurement Spend from all Empowering Suppliers based on the B-BBEE Procurement Recognition Levels as a percentage of Total Measured Procurement Spend (towards 5 Points in terms of the Codes);
  • B-BBEE Procurement Spend from Empowering Suppliers that are at least 51% black owned based on the applicable B-BBEE Procurement Recognition Levels as a percentage of Total Measured Procurement Spend (towards 9 Points in terms of the Codes).
Enterprise & Supplier Development
  • In terms of the Enterprise and Supplier Development Scorecard, the Weighting Points represent the maximum number of points possible for each criterion that a Measured Entity may score in relation to the procurement of goods or services.
  • For the purposes of this B-BBEE Schedule the Measured Entity is RAM Logistics Client which procures Logistics Services from RAM Logistics.
  • The following table represents the criteria for deriving a score for Enterprise & Supplier Development under Series 400.
